Camden (Sydney) Hot Air Balloon Flights

The flight itself lasts approximately one hour. However, the full Camden Valley experience – from arrival at the meeting point through to the end of breakfast – takes between 3.5 and 4.5 hours in total. This accounts for the drive to the launch site, balloon inflation (approximately 25-30 minutes), the flight, the post-landing pack-down, and the celebration breakfast at Camden Valley Inn. We recommend allowing a full morning when planning your day and be sure to add extra time for travel if you have booked the Flight and Transfer package

All hot air balloon flights launch around sunrise. The passenger meeting time falls approximately 60-120 minutes before sunrise, and varies with the season as sunrise occurs earlier in summer and later in winter. Your confirmed meeting time will be provided to you via SMS and email the evening before the flight, once the pilot has the weather all-clear for your flight. Passengers are asked to arrive at the meeting point at the time specified in their booking confirmation.

Camden Valley hot air balloon flights operate over the Macarthur region, approximately 70 kilometres south-west of the Sydney CBD. The meeting point for Camden flights is Camden Valley Inn, located at 290 Remembrance Drive (Old Hume Hwy), Cawdor. From there, passengers are transported by shuttle bus to the morning’s launch site. Balloon Aloft operates multiple launch sites across the region, and the pilot selects the most suitable site on the morning based on wind direction and conditions. During the flight, passengers may see the farmland, rivers, sandstone ridges, and historic homesteads of the Macarthur region.

Hot air ballooning is a weather-dependent activity, and all flights are subject to pilot assessment on the evening before the flight. If weather conditions are unsuitable, the flight will be cancelled in the interests of passenger safety. Passengers will be notified by SMS and email the evening before their flight. Depending on the ticket type held, options include rescheduling to another available date or, in the case of a Flexi Ticket, requesting a full refund. Passengers are advised to wear comfortable, casual clothing that they don’t mind getting a little dirty, along with sturdy, flat-soled, closed-toe shoes. Heels and platform shoes are not permitted. Layering is recommended, as temperatures before dawn in the Macarthur region can be cool regardless of the season. Light layers that can be removed as the morning warms up are the most practical approach.

Children aged 7 and over are welcome on Camden Valley balloon flights. For safety reasons, children must be able to climb into the basket using the footholds on the side and need to be at least 120cm tall so they can see over the top of the basket.

Camden Valley balloon flights are suitable for most passengers regardless of age, provided they are able to climb into the basket using the footholds on the side. Passengers should be in reasonable physical health and able to stand for the duration of the flight. Shared Balloon Aloft flights typically carry between 6 and 24 passengers, depending on the number of bookings for the day. Our baskets are divided into several passenger compartments so everyone has a great view. Smaller balloons consist of two compartments holding 3 to 4 passengers each, while larger balloons have four compartments holding 4 to 6 passengers each. Each compartment allows passengers to stand shoulder to shoulder facing outwards, giving everyone an unobstructed view.
